A couple of weeks ago, we did our first Cedar Valley Sustainable Zoom event. Liz Stelk the executive director of the Illinois Stewardship Alliance joined us to talk about the IL Local Food Farmers Caucus (Jody was on the organizing committee), current policy initiatives/concerns, and how policy work is integral to Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm.
This Sunday we’ll debut “Cooking with Cedar Valley Sustainable.” In a couple of practice runs, Beth transformed our kitchen into a mini web-studio.
There is a stove cam and a cook cam. We’ll share recipes with our meats that are simple and delicious. Over the years, we’ve found that scratch cooking doesn’t have to be complicated or take a lot of time. But, like every skill it takes practice – we’ve had a lot of practice, especially with staying in ALL THE TIME trying to follow good Covid protocols.
We can get into a groove with recipes and repeated too often that groove becomes a rut. We’ll share recipes that are old favorites along with dishes that are completely new to us. Hopefully, these recipes and cooking sessions will add to your arsenal of answers to “What’s for dinner?”
In May, we’ll take the camera phone with us to the farm and record some virtual tours. Spring is one of the most active and beautiful times on the farm. We want to share that with you, now; and soon – when we’re all vaccinated we’ll schedule some IRL farm events. Until then, please join us on Zoom!
