ResolutionsJanuary 2009 is here already! We welcome quite a few
new members this month, some that received shares as gifts, others who come on board through referrals, brochures and websites.
I wonder if for some people we may be playing a part in a New Year's resolution: shopping locally or eating more
healthfully. Resolutions are on my mind, because I've made several. I know that the
conventional wisdom says I'll be more likely to follow through if I only make one, but there is so much room
for improvement! The over-arching theme of my resolutions is organization. Jody & I (yep, I've totally
roped him in!) are working on a detailed planning budget for 2009. The business has grown to the point that having a
plan in our heads and a box full of receipts just isn't cutting it anymore. In addition
to the mental organization of having a budget, I'm determined to improve the physical organization of the operation.
The natural pack-rat tendencies of frugal farmers have combined with the bad habit we both have of putting down
whatever we're using right where we were using it, and the busy schedule that never seems to quite leave enough time for
a major clean up, to make the shed and barn yard a HUGE mess. Maybe I can even incorporate the clean
up into my third resolution- increased blogging and activity on our website. I can take before and after photos to brag
about progress! Wish me luck!
